Don’t leave San Francisco without doing these 5 things

San Franciso! Nobody told us that there would be hills, mini mountains that we would hike daily just to get to the nearest Whole Foods or corner shop from our hotel.  But we were high on a plan to discover San Francisco, the city almost…

4 perfect hiking trails you must do in Palm Beach

Hiking trails…just the thought of it would make me shudder. Why would anyone subject themselves to the anonymity of the woods? The likelihood of befriending a bear, deer or worse, an alligator is not appealing. I choose life! Two and a half years ago Phil…

Heya! I’m Antoinette Lashley, a girl who used her nose to experience travel beyond hearing loss. I love the ocean and game nights and I always throw a dance party while I’m cooking! My mission? To help curious people experience exhilarating freedom through travel, faith and inspiring spaces.

A word and a reminder as we roll out of the 8th we A word and a reminder as we roll out of the 8th week of 2021 - rest is not a sign of weakness, it is an act of faith.

I got caught up in the hustle culture. I was on a bullet train towards the end of the year barreling into a mountain of responsibilities that I had to complete to prove that I had value.

I was overwhelmed. Expectations started to feel like wet concrete. I needed to stop but I felt like I couldn't. So my body shut down. For a week, my body threatened to give out if I dared to do anything but shower, eat and sleep.

"Are you tired? Worn out? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly."

Committed to living in the "unforced rhythms of grace" this year - especially grace toward myself.

P.S. Dug this photo out of the archives and I can't stop staring at it. Should I add it to the Escape Prints Shop? Where do you think the photo was taken?
My eyes darted across the canopy. My legs were tra My eyes darted across the canopy. My legs were trapped in strips of leather and iron buckles near my groin waist.

I looked up.

My hands hurt from the death grip I had on the rope that connected my waist to the line. My eyes darted across the canopy again and then down.

Why am I doing this? Why on earth did I think this would be fun?

My legs wobbled as I shook my head at Lazaro, who was desperately trying to soothe talk me into moving. He had been at it for 10 minutes.

Phil’s voice broke through.

“You’ve done harder things than this babe. Trust the line.”

I don’t trust the line!
God, if this is not what you want me to today, I’m cool with that. Just tell me to step off”

Lazaro crooned again, unclipped his rope from me and gently pushed me forward. My legs clenched. My fingers found a tighter grip and my tushie went backwards.

There’s nothing rational about sailing across the sky from a “rope.” There’s no processing for if something goes wrong. If the line breaks, there’s nothing to hang on to but air. So…I guess I could meet Jesus in person today, but I wasn’t ready just yet.

My mind and heart battled with each other a few minutes more. My heart told me to take a leap of faith.

Looking up at Lazaro I nodded.

“My legs are stuck, so you’re gonna have to push me”

And then…off I was…sailing down the line fully expecting fear to scream itself out of me but instead, faith gave oxygen to joy!

I had to repeat that process twice more.

And each time my I experienced the tension between my heart and mind. And each time I allowed myself to rest in faith.

"Courage doesn’t mean the absence of fear. It’s just an opportunity for faith to prove itself stronger."
Dear hearing people, mask season is exhausting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve had to ask someone to repeat themselves. And I’ve leaned in so much towards people, that if I lean anymore I’m gonna fall on them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve willed myself to have x-ray vision to see through masks to read lips. It is mentally and physically draining to concentrate on listening in this new climate that on most days, I avoid experiences that involve people I don't know intimately.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thankfully, my "hearing ear dog" @phillashley is usually with me to relay all the words I missed while in everyday social scenarios.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The cliched phrase “the struggle is real” has never been more true than for the hard of hearing community.

We have the vaccine but there's now three extra strains of the virus in the mix.

How are we feeling? Do you think we'll get there this year? Are you planning to take ✈️(locally or internationally), or waiting things out by keeping close to 🏠as much a possible?

And the truth is

✅Goodness and mercy will follow you
✅The place you feel stuck in doesn't have to be the place you die in
✅Changing the way you think will transform your life
✅Child like faith will take you further than will power. (The first humbles you. The latter buries you in pride.)
✅Our needs are God's responsibility.

And in those days, I put much of the world on mute.
Closed the 50 tabs across 4 browsers,
Unfollowed a few “unnecessary” accounts,
Told FB, Instagram, YouTube to stop yelling out everybody’s business and telling me who to be friends with,
Unsubscribed from the people whose unopened emails kept judging me from my inbox.

I pulled the plug on the noise and stepped into the silence.

It’s amazing how light you feel in the silence, when you no longer have to move things aside to indulge on the words, experiences and moments that feed you. A beautiful thing happens when you pare life down to the essentials, now, we’re
